Family Night at the Garage

The other night we were all up at the garage while I was doing some welding on the shovel frame. The kid asked if she could give it a try (normally she only asks when we are leaving) so I figured why not. It went well and was a lot of fun for all of us. She's at the age when I'm only cool some of the time so I know these days are numbered. If you have kids drag them away from the tv and get their hands dirty. Never know what may happen, my kid has been askin when she can practice some more.

Single point threading on the lathe

I enjoy threading on the lathe as much as i enjoy tig welding. i guess since both skills are relatively new to me so they are challenging. something about having to really focus on whats going on to get the outcome i want.

I could tell you what these parts i made are for, but i would rather show you at a later date.

check this link out for a video of someone cutting threads on a lathe.

Two Timer

Been going through my collection of vintage hot rod mags and stumbled across this beast in the august of '64 issue.(click to enlarge)

two pre-unit triumph motors, a 56 and 57, with a 37 HD trans, runs nitro - quarter mile in 10.5 seconds at 152mph. that is fucking fast even by todays standard - in 1964!

Snowbird

I think its hilarious that my fellow 'freak out the square-ers' are all flipped out over a dong. now i really know what freaks you gays, i mean, guys out. believe you me, i love T & A as much as anyone - but man, what a riot! you guys getting all 'freaked out'.

just a couple weeks ago, i came to work to find this boner-fied benz out front. super stoked on whoever pulled this off.

Sailin On

Bone chilling cold, snow, and a rough week at work. It's the perfect night to crack open a good bottle of whiskey and stare at some mindless bullshit on TV.Maybe I'm just gettin older but I can't wait for sunny days, looking at all the pictures from the Love Cycles party in that Arizona desert made me jealous, wish I was there. For now I got three fingers of rye and a comfortable chair.

Sweet Mids

monkey wrench

no i didn't go to weird old monkey photos.com or google image search them

it took me about a year to come across them purely by accident. cracks me up when they act like people

for the ride to skate we are going to have a knife throwing carnie booth. but we were thinking about making some jail house style throwing stabbers out of wrenches. I already have a pretty massive king dick... wrench in my posession. i wanted to see if there were some other sizes out there for sale. do not type that in a craigslist search without being on the tools page first. you have been warned

Sporty tank surprise donger

So i finally found the goddamn picture of the picture i found inside an old sporty tank. i got a couple ratty tanks from our local graybeard/old HD parts spot a while back when i first started my XLCH. I cut one up & found this polaroid inside, all cut up. i found the part with the dudes head 1st, then, there it was, right in my face - some random dudes donger! WTF?! ive found some funky shit working on old cars & bikes over the years but this shit wins the gold medal for most whacked out shit ever.

get to work

If you're only going to make it to 2 events this year, make this the other one.

The date for the Ride to Skate 5 is officially set. Mark your calendars and put in for the time off now. Friday, May 20th is the preparty in Philly and Saturday May 21st is the 100 mile ride to the event in Baltimore. That's right there is actually a ride involved. We got a couple hefty changes this time around. Instead of it just being a Bro Zito & Freak out the Squares deal, we are in full on cahoots with our brothers from Lowside, Death Science, Hated of the World and Cut Rate. Should be a good'n. More details to come as they unfold.

And would someone at google please install a no homo button on the image search for craps sake. Thank you

Makin' shit to make shit.

Been busting my ass in my home shop these days. The snow, plus my newly insulated and heated workspace has me really motivated to keep putting the hours into the bike. Sometimes you need to take a break from the actual project to make tools to help with the task at hand. My boss gave me a sweet 20 ton press a little while back & with a little effort, a press can do many things. I needed to make a ton of consistent bends in some solid round stock, so I decided to give my press some bending abilities. I machined a section of pipe with a small groove for the round stock to sit in, welded in a couple flat steel braces to keep the pipe from caving in, welded that to a long piece of tubing - making a steel lollipop of sorts, then drilled some 1" holes in the big I beam to slide some 1"-.120 wall tubing through & lastly, I cut some huge 1" wide slots up each side of the press to clear any long material while bending. It worked even better than expected! I also have been getting a lot of use out of my TIG. Feeling like I've got steel pretty dialed - still need some aluminum to play with though.

Dont mean to car up the joint, but some cage's are OK.

I just traded my friend spike my '65 Chrysler for his '55 Pontiac. I've had my big black barge for 10 years. Watching it drive away was like watching my left arm drive away. Totally mental. I'm stoked that a good dude has it and I am also stoked on the new project car. I've already promised myself that I'm not allowed to even put one single wrench on the car until my Ironhead is done. I have always dug the low & slow deal, even though the big block 383 is far from slow - you get the drift. I've been itching for a cage with some street beast potential. Been looking for a 2 door, mid 50s, manual trans car for a bit. Right now, the Pontiac has no motor under the hood but comes with two 287's, two 3 speed manual trans - stock 3 on the tree, and a 4 speed. One of the motors is hopped up and ready to go. After I get it rolling, I want to make it pretty & give it a respectable paint job and interior. Then if I am not old and dead by then, I will probably plop a 389 in there & maybe a steeper limited slip rear. I ride most of the time so having a car that drinks gas like a sorority girl drinks booze isn't such a stupid idea. Coolest part about this 55 is that is shares a lot of shit with a 55 chevy and parts are everywhere for them.

So yeah, bummed about seeing the Chrysler go - stoked about seeing the Pontiac show up. It's all good in the hood. Been kicking ass on the chopper lately too so hopefully that goddamn thing will be done this century afterall.
